Abstract;Continuous intravenous injection can maintain the concentration of injected agents in a patient's body at a stable level. Studies that compared different prescription methods of morphine to cancer patients have shown that continuous intravenous injection achieves effects equivalent to those of continuous subcutaneous injection. Morphine, fentanyl, and lidocaine (off-label use) are used in the method. Continuous intravenous injection of opioids by PCA pump is recommended for use in control of cancer pain in children. Sedation should be considered against difficult-to-tame pain observed in patients near death caused by symptoms such as intraperitoneal hemorrhage and strangulation ileus.
