| Abstract; It has been perceived since the era of Pyramid that objects can be easily moved using rolling motion rather than using sliding motion. At present, the technology is being applied to every possible area as if its use is the norm. One of applications is the tires for automobiles. Tow objects make contact with each other while they are rolling. How is a force transferred to the contact area? The contact theory is the theory that deals with such issues and is called Hertz Theory. Nowadays, the theory is absolutely essential in term of dealing with such contact issues. The contact issues will be explained intelligibly here including the basic theorem of the theory. (author abst.) |
