Abstract; In this article, we have reviewed the original papers and systematic reviews concerning the therapy of functional neurologic disorders published in 2005. Migraine is a highly disabling episodic disorder and occasionally develops to chronic form. Triptans are serotonin agonist, specific acute medication for migraine headache. Recent data suggests that management with triptans improve quality of life of adult migraineiures. Early intervention and combination use with analgesics increase the therapeutic efficacy of triptans. Topiramate, an anti-epileptic, is a potential effective prophylactic drug for migraine. The vagus nerve stimulation may a potential option for refractory headache disorders. Menstrual migraine and its treatment is one of the major topics. Short-term prophylaxis during menstrual phase by long-acting triptans or NSAIDs is a promising strategy. Headache in childhood is also an important issue. A problem still remained to be approached is high placebo response rate in child headache sufferers. Efficacy of triptans for child migraineurs are still controversial. For treatment of tension-type headache, various kinds of analgesics are available. Selective cox-2 inhibitors, coxibs are also potential agents against tension-type headaches. Cluster headaches is characterized by severe unilateral pain with autonomic symptoms. A successful trial of hypothalamic stimulation for refractory chronic cluster headache have been reported.
