| Abstract;Fissidens curvatus occurs in Pennsylvania where collections were made in a conservatory in Pittsburgh. The species is otherwise known in the United States only from a number of counties in California. The Pennsylvania and California collections represent different expressions of F. curvatus, and it is postulated that they are the result of inadvertent introductions. In California this introduction occurred probably in the San Francisco Bay area. (author abst.) |
