Abstract; The Monpal ML200 4-wheel scooter has been developed based on the "Smart Package" concept. Increased static and dynamic stability and greater user comfort were realized by adopting A-arm independent front and floating axle type rear suspensions and by reducing the center of gravity by locating the main parts lower down. A metal base plate was adopted for the motor controller, while the use of a 3D map system identification speed control and a Honda-manufactured brushless motor with an integrated transmission improved efficiency and reduced drive resistance. The scooter's overall electrical consumption was improved by 9% over that of the current Monpal ML100 model, and a running distance of 34.3km on a single battery charge was achieved. Moreover, the arrangement of the lights, based on Honda ASV-3 LONG technology, has enhanced visibility. (author abst.)
