Abstract;Aplysia kurodai called sea hare, a kind of benthic Mollusca, grazes sea lettuce with a good appetite. The purpose of this study is to obtain fundamental biological data to estimate the yield of sea hare grazing sea lettuce, and the water purification efficiency by carbon and nutrient fixation of sea lettuce. In order to clarify the grazing rate of sea hare, two biological experiments were carried out at Osaka Prefectural Fisheries Experimental Station (OPFES). One is the experiment using temperature controlled water tanks set up by the heaters with thermostats. The other is the experiment using light controlled water tanks set up by a blackout curtain. The experimental results showed that the grazing rate of sea hare increases with increasing the water temperature, and decreases in dark condition. (author abst.)
