Abstract;Energy and environmental crisis are becoming increasingly severe in the 21st century. One of the solutions to these problems is wave energy conversion. Several systems which convert from the wave energy to electricity have been suggested. Of these, the Backward Bent Duct Buoy(BBDB) has a huge potential for improvement of effciency. Though some researchers have tried to make clear the characteristics of BBDB, some problems such as relationship between wave induced motion and power generation effciency are not fully understood. In the present paper, experimental results associated with these issues are presented. Especially, the influence of the body shape upon the motion characteristics and power generation effciency of BBDB are discussed. (author abst.)
