Abstract;A nerve root is a part of a spinal nerve coming out of spinal canal. Nerve root block is to inject the mixture of local anesthetic and steroid to the nerve root. The block is carried out for pain such as root diseases. Therapeutic effects can be obtained by the block. Nerve root responsible for pain can be identified by the block. Regional diagnosis of lesion can be performed by imaging. Although long-term pain relief can be obtained by single treatment, the treatment is accompanied with sharp pain. The block is carried out in three positions such as prone position and oblique position. There are few serious complications by the block. Complications include nerve damage, hyperglycemia, infection, bleeding, and rebound pain.
