| Abstract;This manuscript proposed a concept 'eruption potential' and discussed its contents and data and knowledge necessary for its evaluation. As one example, eruption potential at Sakurajima volcano was shown: possibility of eruption in a few decades, possible styles of eruption, eruption scenarios and expected hazards. In Japan, similar evaluation as Sakurajima might be possible at about 20 volcanoes among 108 active volcanoes. At other volcanoes, it is difficult to evaluate eruption potential. (author abst.) |
