Abstract; As a part of a research program for developing low temperature operations of blast furnaces, the present study aims to develop a design system of liquid slag with low melting temperature, high CaO activity for desulfurization, and a quadruple phase diagram of CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-MgO is investigated. The sulfide capacity (Cs) that is a measure for desulfurization capacity of slag is measured by the slag-gas equilibrium method. The partition ratio (%S/Cs) obtained by the Cs in the developed slag composition is as high by a digit order than conventional blast furnace slag, and it suggests the slag can remove sulfur at lower temperatures.
