Abstract;Blast furnaces of energy saving and high efficiency type are to be designed to utilize much wide space in the furnace at lower temperatures, and thus, high combustion rate raceways is indispensable. The design of such raceways is tried by utilizing the combined method of the discrete element method and the finite difference method to consider the flow, heat conduction, and reaction phenomena. In practice, the controls of the raceway by the blowing conditions, the furnace top gas circulation process for realizing highly efficient blast furnaces, and the raceway as combustion fields suitable to highly efficient blast furnace are designed by a mathematical model for the practical applicability. The results obtained indicate that the shape and the gas temperature of the raceway can be controlled by the blast temperature and the gas composition and volume, the evaluation of the raceway for the top gas circulation process indicates the practical applicability to be high. The features of the raceway for the process are summarized.
