| Abstract;Quantitative evaluation of defects in coke that is one of determining factors of strength of coke, for developing manufacturing technology of high-strength coke is investigated. Image analysis software is employed for investigating the microstructure of coke to determine the defects quantitatively by the structure indices (average wall thickness, porosity by low circularity, and coarse inert ratio). Non-adherent grain boundaries, connected pores, coarse inert cracks are explained with analysis results, and the relation between the low circularity porosity of a single coal coke (Ro:0.92-1.45) and the coke strength DI'150'6 is found to be excellent. The structure indices are confirmed to be able to conduct the quantitative determination of a part of the governing factors of coke strength. |
