Abstract; The dendritic growth of metals and alloys are analyzed by the 3D phase field method (PFM), and the computed growth rates are compared with those in published data. At the computations, the PFM equations and the heat conduction equations are made discrete by uniform lattices, and solved by positive finite difference method. The analysis results by the present method are compared with the growth rates obtained by Bragard et al. on the supercooled Ni dendrites, and the errors are about 6%.
