| Abstract;QoS (Quality of service) of streaming video can be estimated in view of several points, such as transmission delay, quality of received images, and so on. This paper proposes a no-reference QoS estimation scheme based on image quality for motion JPEG2000 images that are transmitted over lossy packet networks. The image quality is evaluated in terms of the PSNR (peak signal-to-noise ratio) between images affected by packet loss at receiver with the original encoded images at transmitter. In practice, the original image is not available at the receiver and traditional PSNR calculation cannot be done. Therefore, we should estimate the PSNR. In this work, the PSNR is estimated utilizing the similarity between adjacent frames in wavelet domain. The advantages of the proposed method are that it does not require any reference information from transmitter nor inducing additional network costs. Moreover, the method introduces a simple scene change detection, which can be utilized to achieve a more accurate image quality estimation. (author abst.) |
