Abstract;Trachidermus fasciatus is an endemic fish in Ariake Sea. The distribution and abundance of fish in tidal rivers into Isahaya Bay were investigated from 1993 to 2006. Before the construction of the dike, the fish inhabited in the whole area of Isahaya Bay. However, after the construction, the fish in tidal region became extinct. The population of the fish continued to decrease even in tidal rivers into Isahaya Bay outside the dike and the fish died out in Isahaya Bay except two rivers near the mouth of the Bay after 2003.
